Student experience
Students work on planning, teaching and evaluating lessons with teachers. They are able to offer input on the science content and on ways to investigate different topics.
Students work at a higher level than when they are teaching alone – they develop more equal relationships with the teachers and become more legitimate participants in the classroom.
They develop higher levels of confidence when working side-by-side with experienced teachers.
Developing confidence
University tutors join in coteaching when they visit; students become their equals in the classroom, and this breaks down barriers and enhances student-tutor relationships.
