03 IN THE CLASSROOM
You should decide how best to place the visit as part of a topic in the classroom. It could be used as an introduction to a new topic, a highlight in the middle of a topic, or even as a review of the teaching already covered.
Many science centres provide material to help you in the classroom both before and after your themed visit. For example Techniquest sends teachers pre and post visit materials for their theme 'Materials'.

Pre-visit Materials
The content of this pre-visit material provides you with more detail on what to expect during the visit and what aspects of the National Curriculum are covered. There are also ideas for activities in the classroom to get pupils thinking about the topic covered before they leave the classroom. In this example of the presentation material pupils use cards with words on to best describe solids, liquids and gases.
Post Visit Materials
The post-visit material is designed to help you follow up your visit. In this example an outline of the show is included and follow-up questions suggested to help clarify your pupils' understanding of the topic. At the end there is a worksheet which consolodates the main points covered in the show.
