Paragraph
Using the Levels Mountain for self and peer assessment
In the See section of this site we explained that using the Levels Mountain to level their labelled drawings can motivate pupils to achieve the higher levels. In a similar way older KS2 and KS3 children should also be encouraged to use the Levels Mountain as a resource to level their written paragraphs. This way they can see the difference between the understanding they can present orally, in drawings and in writing.
The following videos show the same Year 8 class that we saw levelling their See section predictions to the question What will happen to the water filled balloon? Why? Now the pupils are presenting their written paragraphs to their peers via PowerPoint. Again they have used the Levels Mountain to self assess their explanation and consider how they could improve their work.
