See / Visualize

The challenge here is to encourage pupils to visualize the science behind HOW or WHY an event occurred, and then to support them communicating their own ideas/theories by linking pictures and words.

When answering a HOW question we have found it useful to encourage pupils to draw a sequence of 3 or 4 diagrams showing snapshots in time during a process (a bit like a cartoon strip). When answering a WHY question often all that is needed is one large detailed drawing.
