Trust Projects - Dulais & Neath Valley Cluster

Dulais & Neath Valley ClusterU consists of seven feeder primary schools for Llangatwg Comprehensive in an area suffering limited employment opportunities. The seven feeder primary schools are well used to working together at teacher and headteacher levels to effect common in-service programmes. This year is dedicated to science and improving teaching and teacher expertise.

The programme will:

• address scientific concepts/topics which staff and pupils find difficult

• improve subject knowledge and overall expectations

• strengthen the role of the science co-ordinator

• effect continuity and progression in science teaching and learning across KS2 & KS3 so KS3 could have a smooth start and make progress.

It is intended that the programme would reflect the pilot project devised by LJMU. In particular, it will involve secondary science teachers who contribute to twilight sessions in order to enhance continuity between KS2-3.
