Trust Projects - Welshpool Cluster

The Welshpool Area Primary Schools Cluster consists of twelve primary, a junior school and three infant schools drawn from disadvantaged areas with low aspirations and social problems.

Programme

The programme is based on the successful LJMU pilot project involving experts to work alongside teachers and twilight units in the secondary school. It will, for example, offer in-service training on:

• science subject and pedagogic knowledge for teachers and science co-ordinators

• the development and use of science resources

• sharing of expertise.

It is anticipated that the programme will yield improvement in the quality of pupil learning, that science co-ordinators will develop their leadership skills and that there will be a greater enthusiasm and confidence in the teaching of science.
