Conducting Your Own Case Study
Building your own portfolio of evidence
We have found that collating a portfolio of evidence of children's written work alongside a personal learning diary supports individual Continuing Professional Development and can be very useful for both performance management and/or accreditation towards professional qualifications. In this section we have outlined our way of gathering evidence for a case study of action research in the classroom.
Section 1 of the portfolio supports teachers to identify their target cohort of children and gather evidence that these children's progress in Science could be improved.
Then the second section will help you to collate your own learning diary. As you trial the Thinking Frames for the first time it doesn't take long to keep a record of the activities that you used and their impact upon learning.
As you engage with Section 2 you should keep a record of children's work that has been produced by the Thinking Frames and annotate it with how you feel that their engagement and/or attainment has been affected by the process.
Finally the last section focuses you on gathering the evidence to support analyzing the impact of your action research upon pupil progress, your own CPD and the impact upon others in your school.
