How to use

Examples of the impact upon KS3 pupils

The benefits for the children when using the Thinking Frames Approach during the transfer KS2-KS3;

  • Can raise self confidence and improve both oral and written explanations in science
  • Challenges, motivates and engages through helping children experience success
  • Improves engagement, raises attainment and improves progression in science during the transfer from primary to secondary school as teachers are able to approach problem solving in science in the same way. These advantages can be maintained during KS3

John Hanson logo Pauline Rees, Head of Science at John Hanson School, explains how the Thinking Frames Approach has improved the attainment of KS3 children that she has taught

"Katie" a Y7 girl with both low prior attainment (English, Maths and Science) and low self esteem
"Rebecca" a very high achieving Year 7 girl.

It makes it a lot easier to understand, before I used the Thinking Frame I wouldn't know how it happened.
