How to use
How teaching changes
The benefits for teachers when using the Thinking Frames Approach;
- Helps to improve questioning techniques and interactions with children in the classroom
- Provides practical resources and guidance to improve pupil engagement and achievement in lessons
- Gives a common language of progression in science between primary and secondary colleagues. (Science becomes no longer what the pupils can recall, but how they can apply their own ideas to form new explanations)
This approach improves class discussion and pupil confidence. Pupils are much keener to write and are surprised by what they have achieved
Jane Hoggarth - Deputy Headteacher, Oak Meadow Primary School
Is the Thinking Frame approach making a difference? Categorically YES! ..these pupil explanations are far better than I usually see.
Pauline Patterson - Deputy County Inspector / Advisor for Science Hampshire Local Authority
Using the Thinking Frames approach has improved my understanding of how to support children's questioning, making observations and using information to help form their own explanations.
Malcolm Price - Science Coordinator, Harrison Primary School
It has improved teachers' understanding of the links between literacy and Science skills in our school. Our hard data show that most pupils have improved their level of science explanations
