Think / Sequence

Examples of pupil work 3 - 'Raisins in Lemonade' experiment

Children are supported to write their own T/S statements.
Here Beth Bramall works with the same group of Year 4 children as before but this time supporting them to work individually filling in their own Think / Sequence section of a lower KS2 Thinking Frame template. This first video shows the teacher demonstration.

The raisins and lemonade experiment

Following the gathering of Brainwaves and drawing of diagrams for the See sections the children were guided by their teacher to Think about their ideas and sequence them into a series of sentences. This process took 15 minutes, here the video clips show the key teacher - pupil and pupil - pupil interactions during that time.

Working towards the final sentence

Notice in the videos how Beth gives the children an opportunity to gain self confidence by sharing their ideas and sentences in pairs and to the group. Our action research shows that pupils of all ages benefit from being given an opportunity to do this and the quality of their written explanations will improve.
