Abstract

This paper will report the findings of a pilot project that brought together experienced teachers in special schools in N. Ireland with pre-service teachers.

The emphasis, through a co-teaching model, was on blending the knowledge and expertise of both groups in ways that would enhance the teaching and learning environment for students with special educational needs (SEN). The overall project involved pre-service teachers from a number of disciplines, however, for the purpose of this paper; the focus is on those preparing to teach science.
